Het ontwerp van een origineel rood theatergordijn, maar dan wel met een twist.
Het concept van het theatergordijn is enorm beïnvloed door de stof. Deze was een gift van de firma Ten Cate aan de stad Enschede. Het gekozen materiaal uit hun collectie wordt normaliter gebruikt voor tenten, werkkleding en uniformen. Doordat deze stof zelf niet aan de technische eisen van een theatertextiel voldoet (qua gewicht, licht en geluidsabsorptie) hebben we de stof 3 maal toe gevouwen over zijn eigen oppervlakte waardoor er een zwaar gordijn ontstaat met een driedimensionale structuur van geopende vierkanten.
De compositie van vierkanten is een tegenbeweging tegen de rondlopende patronen in de foyer en het auditorium. Terwijl de halve cirkel, van waaruit de gevouwen structuur plooien openvallen, indirect refereert aan diezelfde cirkels.
Een zwart wit kamperkoelie print is subtiel verborgen in de vouwen en plooien van het gordijn, ze komt alleen tevoorschijn wanneer het gordijn beweegt.

Design of a red stage curtain. We designed a bright red curtain with a twist for the municipality of enschede, in the theatre annex
The concept of the stage curtain is influenced by the fabric, a gift from the ten
Cate factory to the city of enschede. The material chosen from their collection is commonly used for tents, work clothes and uniforms.
As the textile itself can not fulfill the technical demands of a stage cloth (weight, light- and sound absorption levels) we folded the cloth thrice over its entire surface, creating a heavy curtain with a three dimensional structure of blousing squares.
the chosen composition is a counter movement to the circular patterns of auditorium and foyers, while the half circular shape from which the structure’s open pleats are released indirectly refers to the same circular patterns. A black and white print of honey suckle is hidden within the folds and pleats of the curtain, only visible with each movement of the stage curtain.
